Leave a commentSign up Challenge debutants
We’re very keen to introduce the Challenge to people who haven’t taken part before and so have decided to offer bonus points to any team that encourages their colleagues to sign up for the first time. If you manage to get a new team on board, simply email your team name and the name of the team you’ve introduced to challenge@capita.co.uk and we will award you bonus points.
Fundraising
Raising money for Macmillan is the main reason why we organise the Challenge. We raised over £68,000 at the 2009 event and with your help we’re hoping to do even better this year. 20% of your overall points score is based on fundraising so the more money you raise, the more points you’ll get!
Paying in money
There are three ways to pay in the money you raise:
- Through our Justgiving site – www.justgiving.com/capitachallenge2010
- By cheque
- Directly into the bank.
Please see the ‘What to do with your fundraising money‘ page on the Challenge website for more details.
You need to keep track of how much money your team has raised as you’ll be asked to give your final total on the day. If some of the money hasn’t been collected by then you’ll need to bring your sponsorship forms as proof that it’s coming in.

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing a number of theme related questions on the Challenge Twitter feed. You will have 24 hours to answer the questions from the time they are posted. Every team that answers correctly will receive bonus points.
The first question will be posted between 9am and 5pm this Thursday so keep checking the Twitter feed. Please send your answers to challenge@capita.co.uk

Over the last few years a lot of people have turned up to compete in the Challenge in fancy dress. This year, in recognition of the effort they put it (it’s not easy to paddle across a lake in a canoe dressed as a chicken!), we’ve decided to introduce an award for the best dressed team. We’re expecting lots of Harrison Ford look-alikes in line with the Indiana Jones theme but please feel free to be adventurous. The winners will be chosen on the day by our team of experts.
There is still time to gain a few bonus points by registering early. Simply download and complete the registration form from the Challenge website and send it to the Charity team, Capita Group Plc, 6th floor, 71 Victoria Street, London, SW1H OXA. There will be more opportunities to pick up bonus points over the next few weeks so keep checking the blog for updates.

The Capita Challenge is always a really fun and exciting day, but the main reason people choose to get involved is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We’ve raised over £250,000 through previous Challenges – it’s our biggest annual fundraising event, and we want to continue the great work we’ve been doing with Macmillan this year.
We’ve set up a Justgiving page – http://www.justgiving.com/capitachallenge2010, through which people can sponsor you and your team. You can also pay your entry fee through the site, just remember to reference your team name in the comments section.
To get an idea of what your money can do please follow this link – http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Fundraising/How_your_support_can_help.aspx

Leave a commentTheme decided
This year’s challenge will follow an adventure theme with lots of activities and games designed in the spirit of Indiana Jones. Although it’s not compulsory we’re encouraging participants to dress for the occasion and there will be a prize for the best dressed team.
With less than eight weeks till the big day we’re really staring to focus on fundraising and have set up a Just Giving page. It’s a very fast, simple and secure way of donating money with the added bonus of Gift Aid. Simply go to www.justgiving.com/capitachallenge2010 to make a donation. Remember to get your sponsors to write your team name in the comments box so that the money can be attributed to your fundraising total.
Phase two of the website goes live this week, through which you’ll be able to formally register teams. Keep checking back for updates.
